Riser dry
1
Why is the maintenance of dry risers important?
Although they are not constantly under pressure, dry risers are crucial for a quick and effective fire brigade extinguishing operation. Defects such as leaking couplings, blocked lines or missing signs can massively delay and endanger the operation. The maintenance ensures operational readiness and is also an operator's obligation according to DIN 14462.
2
How often do dry risers need to be serviced?
The test intervals are fixed as follows:
At the latest every 2 years: A complete maintenance and inspection by a knowledgeable person.
At the latest every 5 years: A pressure test of the pipe with water or an inert gas to check the tightness and strength.
In addition, the operator should carry out regular visual inspections.
3
What is checked during maintenance?
The two-year maintenance includes:
Visual inspection: Check all withdrawal and feed fittings for damage, corrosion and free accessibility.
Functional test: Check of the clutches and valves for speed and function.
Marking: Checking the standard-compliant signage on the feed-in valve and the withdrawal points.
Passability: The line is flushed and blown through to ensure that it is free of foreign objects.
Documentation: Creation of a test report and application of a test badge.
