Wall hydrants - system wet
1
Why is the maintenance of wall hydrants important?
Maintenance is essential for operational and functional reliability. Deposits, corrosion or technical defects can cause not enough water with the right pressure to be available at the decisive moment. In addition, regular maintenance is a statutory operator obligation and a prerequisite for full insurance coverage.
2
How often do wall hydrants need to be serviced?
Maintenance must be carried out at least once a year by a knowledgeable person. This is laid down in the DIN 14462 standard. The operator should also have regular visual inspections (e.g. Quarterly) in order to detect obvious defects such as damage or leaks at an early stage. What is checked during maintenance?
The examination is extensive and includes, among other things:
Visual inspection: control for free accessibility, damage to the cabinet and to the components.
Hose test: The hose is completely unrolled and checked for cracks, kinks and porosity. It is then rinsed with water.
Pressure test: Check the static and flow pressure on the nozzle to ensure that the required amount of water is reached.
Functional test: Checking all valves for smoothness and tightness.
Marking: Control of the signs and the operating instructions.
Documentation: All results are recorded in a test report and the hydrant receives a test badge.
